LEFKOSA (AA) - July 20, 2012 - Turkish Cypriot President Dervis Eroglu has said that United Nations (UN) should honestly clarify why negotiations on Cyprus issue were interrupted.
Speaking at a ceremony to mark the 38th anniversary of the July 20 Turkish Peace Operation in Cyprus in Lefkosa on Friday, President Eroglu said that despite Turkish side's decisive and constructive attitudes on solution of the Cyprus issue, the point now where they were standing was disappointing.
Calling on UN to make Greek Cypriot administration's attitudes public during negotiation meetings, "United Nations should honestly reveal the truths, why the negotiations were interrupted. Revealing of this will assist to build a permanent and fair peace in the island," said Eroglu.
Eroglu also criticised European Union on not keeping their promises.
"You did give a word, and now why you are not keeping your promises. Turkish Cypriots are now aggrieved, and why aggrieved one is getting punishment," said Eroglu.
