Türkiye’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin visited Afghanistan’s capital Kabul and the southern city of Kandahar, Turkish security sources said Wednesday.
During his visit to Kabul, Kalin met his counterpart, Abdul Haq Wasiq, head of Afghanistan’s General Directorate of Intelligence, according to the sources.
Kalin also held meetings with senior officials of Afghanistan’s interim administration, including Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Defense Minister Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid and Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani.
The talks focused on steps to deepen security and intelligence cooperation between Türkiye and Afghanistan, as well as bilateral relations.
The officials also discussed regional and global developments, particularly the US-Israel-Iran war, along with efforts to combat terrorism, human smuggling and drug trafficking, the sources added.
