Türkiye’s Education Minister Yusuf Tekin and his Georgian counterpart Givi Mikanadze on Friday signed a cooperation deal in the field of education.
In the Georgian capital Tbilisi for official talks, Tekin met with Mikanadze at the ministry building. Türkiye’s Ambassador to Tbilisi Mustafa Turker Ari also attended the meeting, where the two sides discussed bilateral relations in education and other areas.
Following the roughly hour-long meeting, a signing ceremony was held for the agreement aimed at further advancing educational ties between the two countries.
Speaking after the ceremony, Tekin said: “The stronger we and our neighbor are, and the better our cooperation with our neighbor is, the stronger peace, human rights and democracy will be in our region.”
Mikanadze stressed the importance of Tekin’s visit to Georgia in advancing relations between the two countries, saying: “This visit once again underscores the extremely positive cooperation, strategic partnership and friendship between the two countries.”
Under the agreement, Türkiye and Georgia will seek to strengthen cooperation in education, open educational institutions on the basis of reciprocity, work toward the recognition of diplomas and educational documents, promote the teaching of Turkish and Georgian, and increase the exchange of information and experience in the field of education.
