Türkiye’s Araban garlic, one of Gaziantep’s products registered by the EU, ranked among the top five garlic varieties worldwide on the TasteAtlas platform, which provides information on local foods, beverages and restaurants, officials said on Monday.
Hasan Altun, head of the Araban Chamber of Agriculture and the Araban Garlic Producers Union, said the list includes 17 types of garlic.
Altun stated that garlic varieties from countries such as France, Italy, Spain and China were also included in the ranking, adding that Araban garlic was placed fifth on the list.
He emphasized that Araban garlic makes significant contributions to the national and regional economy.
Altun also noted that China’s Jinxiang garlic ranked first on the list, followed by Spain’s Ajo Morado de Las Pedroneras in second place and Türkiye’s Taskopru garlic in third.
