ADEN (AA) - At least one soldier was killed and 3 others wounded when armed individuals attacked a military vehicle in southern Yemen.
One soldier was in serious condition after the attack that targeted the vehicle on a road connecting the city of Lahij -- some 40 km north of the port city of Aden -- to Taizz, 260 km south of capital Sana'a.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but militants of the Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the regional branch of the al-Qaeda network, are active in the country and they have carried out similar attacks in the past.
In a separate development, two judges and a lawyer were reportedly kidnapped by unidentified individuals in Taizz.
Authorities reportedly think that the abductions might have been carried out by family or friends of a defendant in a murder case, as they believed the defendant would receive a sentence.
No information was given on either the case or the defendant.
Yemeni security officials have launched an investigation on the incident.
