A suicide bomber killed one person and injured 22 others when they targeted a U.S. military convoy in the Afghan capital Kabul on Tuesday.
“Initial report on causalities, in the aftermath of today's terrorist attack in Kabul, one killed and 22 wounded, all civilians,” said interior ministry spokesman Seddiq Sediqqi.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred on the main road to the Kabul airport, a kilometer from the U.S. embassy.
Though the Taliban claimed that all of the foreign troops had been killed, NATO tweeted that they had not suffered any casualties.
Anadolu Agency's reporter at the site said a damaged U.S. armored military vehicle had been knocked off the road by the blast and the area had been cordoned off by police and foreign troops.
A police officer at the site of the blast told Anadolu Agency, on the condition of anonymity, that at least two foreign soldiers were taken away by their colleagues.
Separately, a bomb attached to an Afghan national army vehicle exploded in Kabul on Tuesday morning, injuring two children, an Afghan security official said.
