At least 11 Palestinians were injured late Sunday in clashes with Israeli troops in several cities across the West Bank, eyewitnesses said.
Israeli troops used teargas, rubber bullets and live ammunition to disperse scores of Palestinian youths who had pelted an Israeli military checkpoint near Tulkarm, northern West Bank, the witnesses said.
At least six Palestinians were wounded in the confrontation, including two by live ammunition, the witnesses added.
In Jericho, four Palestinians were injured during clashes at the city's northern entrance, witnesses said.
Scores of others also suffered temporary asphyxiation due to the excessive use of teargas by Israeli troops.
Another Palestinian was injured by live ammunition and detained in the southern city of Hebron.
Similar clashes were reported in Aboud, Deir Nidham, Ramallah and Bethlehem.
Tensions have been running high in the region since Wednesday following the kidnapping and killing of a 16-year-old Palestinian boy by suspected Jewish settlers near Jerusalem.
The Palestinian boy's murder fell hot on the heels of the discovery of the bodies of three missing Jewish teens.
The Israeli army had detained hundreds of Palestinians following the disappearance of the settlers last month.
