At least 16 people were killed and 78 others injured in different provinces of Iraq on Wednesday.
Anbar Intelligence Department Chief Muhammed Hussein died and two soldiers were wounded due to clashes between armed groups and special forces early on Wednesday in Fellujah, a city in the al-Anbar province west of Baghdad.
Al Qaeda leaders Omer Ismail and Omer Ahmad were also killed during the operations carried out by security forces against the terrorist group.
Two assailants were killed and eight were injured in two different car bomb explosions in the Kirkuk neighborhood and on the Kirkuk-Irbil highway.
Shortly after the explosions, deadly clashes occurred between the security forces and assailants who tried to capture the Kirkuk intelligence building, leaving 10 killed and 63 injured.
The former al-Anbar Provincial Council member Mazhar al-Molla's house in the Ramadi neighborhood was attacked by militants, resulting in the death of his brother and the injury of one guest at his home.
Overall, 16 people had been killed and 78 injured in Iraq in the past 24 hours.
