KABUL (AA) - 22 Taliban militans were killed and 20 others were wounded in Afghanistan when military operations were conducted against Taliban, according to the interior ministry.
The operations launced by Afghan police, Afghan army, Afghan intelligence and coalition forces took place in Faryab, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Paktiya and Paktika provinces of Afghanistan, the ministry said.
Ammunition and explosive materials were seized during the operations conducted in the last 24 hours.
Aim of the operations is to clean some of the areas from Taliban militants, the ministry added.
No statement has been made by Taliban regarding the reports.
Foreign combat forces are set to withdraw from Afghanistan in 2014 and many fear this could strenghten the Taliban and their supporters.
NATO troops have gradually been handing over responsibility for security to their Afghan counterparts, who now lead about 90% of all security operations.
