How to deal with international crimes and the situation in the Middle East and Palestine will be deliberated when African foreign ministers meet at the African Union (AU) Executive Council in Ethiopia on Monday.
They will meet for two days in Addis Ababa, ahead of the upcoming 22nd AU Summit of Heads of State and Government.
The ministers will deliberate on issues including the situation in the Middle East and Palestine, as well as ways and means of granting competence to the African Court of Justice and Human Rights to deal with international crimes.
“One of the high moments during the Executive Council meeting will be the election of the Peace and Security Council for a two-year mandate as well as the election of the president and vice president of the Pan-African University Council,” a press statement said.
The foreign ministers will also be setting agenda items for their heads of state to endorse at the AU Summit, which begins on Thursday and will focus on agriculture and food security.
The African leaders are expected to assess the achievements and challenges of the past decade in regards to the implementation of the continental food security and agriculture development plan.
The leaders will also examine conflicts throughout the contintent, including in the Central African Republic and South Sudan.
