TIRANA, Albania
Four people, including an Italian citizen, have been killed as gunshots were fired in the early hours of Tuesday morning in the Albanian capital Tirana following an altercation in a nightclub, authorities said.
The Tirana police said in a statement that Kostandin Xhuvani (25), the son of the Albanian ruling party’s (Socialist Party) member of Parliament, Luiza Xhuvani, was one of the three detained as suspects.
Kostandin Xhuvani was sentenced to two years in prison in 2011 for a “murder committed in excess of the limits of necessary defense.”
The 60-year old Italian victim did not have anything to do with the altercation, according to the private Albanian TV station Top-Channel.
