YEREVAN
The lawyer for an Armenian presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan, Levon Bagdasaryan on Tuesday said that his client would not file a request with the Armenian Constitutional Court to postpone the presidential elections after he was recently shot and wounded.
The assassination attempt on the chairman of the Union for National Self-Determination, Paruyr Hayrikyan on January 31 in Yerevan brought up the possibility of postponing Armenian presidential elections.
"My client has the right to file a request with the Constitutional Court to postpone the presidential elections but he will not use his right," Bagdasaryan stressed.
Article 52 of the Armenian Constitution says that a presidential election may be postponed up to two weeks in the event a candidate experiences difficulty or an obstacle.
