ANKARA
Nechirvan Barzani's visit in Ankara has ended in a positive and friendly atmosphere, Safin Dizaei, the spokesperson of the Kurdish regional government in the north of Iraq told AA correspondent.
Barzani, prime minister of the Kurdish regional government in the north of Iraq arrived in Ankara on Tuesday.
Talks between Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan andBarzani touched on bilateral relations particularly energy and regional developments, said Dizaei.
"The meeting will contribute to the development of Turkey and the region," he said. "We would like to carry political, social and economic relations with Turkey one step further."
When asked if Turkey and the Kurdish regional government in the north of Iraq could reach a deal which will allow the export of the region's oil to Turkey,Barzani said "It is better if the Turkish government comments on it."
Construction of the first pipeline to carry the region's oil and gas to Turkey is complete.
Baghdad is opposing the plans by the Kurdish regional government in the north of Iraq for an independent oil pipeline through Turkey.
Barzani is expected to visit in Baghdad after his talks in Ankara.
Dizaei said "Barzani's visit to Baghdad is quite normal and official visits between Erbil, the capital of the Kurdish regional government in the north of Iraq and Baghdad are continuing."
