Three suicide bomb attacks that killed 20 people in Nigerian capital on Abuja on Friday were carried out by Boko Haram, the group claimed late Sunday.
In a series of posts on Twitter, Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the blasts at a bus stop in Nyanya neighborhood and a police station and market in Kuje.
The group, which identified itself as the Islamic State in West Africa Province after pledging allegiance to Daesh, posted the names and photographs of three female bombers. More than 40 were injured in the coordinated attacks.
The Arabic tweets were verified by SITE, an online terrorism monitoring group.
Nigeria says around 17,000 people have been killed since Boko Haram began its campaign in 2009.
