PARIS
Paris' Criminal Court has sentenced British businessman Ian Griffin to 20 years in prison for murdering his millionaire girlfriend in a luxury hotel suite in 2009.
After five hours of deliberations, the French court ruled late Friday that Griffin, who is 45, had intentionally killed Kinga Legg, who was 36.
The prosecutor had sought a 25-year sentence.
Griffin has denied the charges, saying he remembered nothing of the night of his partner's death.
A maid found the battered body of Legg lying in a bathtub in the blood-stained luxury suite, which investigators described as a scene of "frenzied violence."
Investigators said Legg suffered 100 injuries, including a massive blow to the head. Police found Griffin in a tent in the woods in Britain and he was extradited to France.
