Former Secretary General of NATO and former Secretary General of the Council of the European Union, Javier Solana said that the most important agreement to be reached at Geneva II is a ceasefire in Syria.
Solana said in response to AA correspondent's questions on the recently released photos allegedly showing torture by the Syrian regime, "I think the most important thing that is taking place now is the Conference in Geneva. It is an important effort, it requires tremendous work to get a solution. But I think everybody has to help this important moment."
He stressed that the talks at the Geneva II meeting would require the immense efforts of all parties in order to reach an agrement. "The most important agreement that could be reached is a ceasefire, at least in some places in Syria, it would give opportunities for cooperation for the lives and prosperity of the Syrian people" he said.
Referring to the harsh humanitarian conditions of Syria's poor, he said, "We cannot forget at this point of time the Syrian people".
Everybody is talking about other things, but whatever has to be done is to help the Syrian people" he added.
