KABUL
Afghanistan's Interior Ministry says 20 Taliban were killed in operations against the militant group in Afghanistan's Ghazni province.
The group is among around 30 people thought to have died around the troubled country on Wednesday.
A statement said that 20 militants, including four commanders, were killed, however, the Taliban refuted the figures, saying that one member had been killed and another wounded.
Two soldiers and two police officers were also killed in a suicide car bomb attack targeting police and military vehicles in the same province, according to a statement by Governor Musa Khan Akberzade.
While the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, spokesman Mujahid Zebiullah said six Afghan soldiers had been killed.
In southern Helmland, eight Taliban were killed and six wounded in operations, police spokesman Abdul Ahad Choban said in a statement. Two police officers were also wounded.
Two soldiers also lost their lives when a roadside bomb placed by the Taliban exploded in the same province.
Another roadside bomb in northern Takhar province killed a father and wounded his two children, Takhar Governorate spokesman Timur Sunnetullah said.
While no one has yet claimed responsibility, Sunnetullah held the Taliban accountable.
