TEHRAN (AA) - Iranian government has appointed a first-ever spokeswoman for the first time since the revolution in Iran.
Iranian official news agency IRNA declared that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamed Javad Zarif appointed Marzieh Afkham as the ministry spokeswoman.
Marzieh Afkham has become the eighth foreign ministry spokesperson since the Iranian Islamic Revolution, also the first-ever woman who will conduct this duty.
Working as media and public diplomacy director at foreign ministry, Afkham had also worked as General Directorate of Media and Information Office for eight years.
On the other hand, the former spokesperson of the foreign ministry had already stated that government of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani would appoint female diplomats to the embassies of several countries.
