CAIRO
An adviser for the Free Syrian Army, Bessam Dade, on Wednesday said that it was not possible to overthrow the Assad regime by using political methods.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA) in Cairo where he arrived to attend the Conference of the Syrian Opposition, Dade stated that the Free Syrian Army had a strong force of 45,000 troops, which included soldiers who defected from Assad's forces.
It is not possible to get rid of the Assad regime by political methods. The only way to solve the Syrian problem is to get armed, Dade stressed.
Criticizing the Syrian National Coordination Board for being in dialogue with the Assad regime, Dade accused this group for acting in a way that supported the interests of the Assad regime.
Evaluating the remarks of the Coordination Board that getting armed would carry Syria to a civil war, Dade said that "at a time when the Assad regime rejected a political solution, we could not accept such a view".
When reminded about the statements of various individuals from the Free Syrian Army that the Cairo conference was "conspiracy", Dade said that their army was one with a leader and one that made official remarks.
How could we know if the conference was a conspiracy before it was held, Dade also said.
