A moderate earthquake hit eastern Japan Friday, resulting in no tsunami warning but brief disruptions to a bullet train line operating in Tokyo.
The tremor had a preliminary magnitude of 4.6, Kyodo news agency cited the Japan Meteorological Agency as saying.
The earthquake, which occurred at 7.41 a.m. at a depth of 30 kilometers in Kanagawa Prefecture, measured 4 out of 7 on Japan’s seismic intensity scale in Kawasaki city and Tokyo’s western Machida region.
While no casualties or damage were reported, bullet train services at parts of the 515.4-kilometer Tokaido Shinkansen Line between Tokyo and Osaka to the west were briefly disrupted.
