Supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi staged morning rallies on Friday to call for boycotting this month's constitutional referendum.
Demonstrators marched in Faisal Street in Giza, amid chants for boycotting a public referendum in mid-January on a revised version of the 2012 constitution, which was suspended by the military following Morsi's ouster this summer.
Supporters of the ousted president also demonstrated in the coastal city of Alexandria, amid chants against the police and military.
Pro-democracy rallies were also staged in the Nile Delta provinces of Menoufiya, Sharqiya and Dakahliya.
On Thursday, the National Alliance for the Defense of Legitimacy, which calls for Morsi's reinstatement, called for new week-long protests against the ouster of the elected president.
Morsi, Egypt's first democratically elected president, was removed from power by the military on July 3 following mass protests against his rule.
For the past 186 days, Morsi supporters have been staging rallies on almost a daily basis to denounce what they describe as the "military coup" against the elected leader and demand his reinstatement.
