CAIRO
Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi held a meeting with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and received Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashal within scope of the mediation efforts in Cairo on Wednesday.
The dialogue took place in a positive atmosphere according to the written statement released by the Palestinian groups.
It is also stated that a meeting would be held in the first week of February where all groups in Palestine will participate and the date of the agreement will be determined parallel to the meeting.
On the other hand, Mahmoud Abbas stated that they had agreed on a two-state solution within scope of the 1967 borders with Khaled Mashal and told that Mashal emphasized the importance of "the solution happening via negotiations, taking resistance and peace options into consideration."
Abbas also touched on the economic crisis in Palestine and said, "The economy is quite bad right now, and it especially worsened after the US delayed some of their assistance and cut some completely."
Abbas also said that UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon held talks regarding Palestine with Israel and Israel set the condition of "Palestinians not demanding their legitimate right of returning."
