A car bomb blast in northern Iraqi city of Mosul, capital of Nineveh province, killed early Monday 10 police officers and wounded 20 others.
According to security sources, a suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden car into an army convoy in eastern Mosul, some 400 km north of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, killing at least 10 police officers and wounding 20 others.
As the hospital officials detailed, many of the wounded were police officers along with some passers-by.
No parties have yet claimed responsibility for the attack nor the Iraqi government has issued a statement on the incident.
Nineveh has been a stronghold for insurgent groups like al-Qaida's militia since the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.
