ANKARA
Turkey-EU relations are expected to gain speed with Ireland's EU term presidency, however, the attitude of France and the Greek Cypriot administration will swing the balance.
"We don't have much to do in regards to term presidents. The actual problem is the French and Greek Cypriots. If they lift the blockage on the chapters, we can make progress. If France decides to do so, the blockage should be lifted on all five chapters. I believe Turkey will gain speed in the EU accession process" said Selim Yener, Turkey's Ambassador at the EU. Mr. Yener attended the Fifth Conference of Turkish Ambassadors held in Ankara where he answered AA's questions.
Turkey's Ambassador to Dublin Ahmet Altay Cengizer said that Ireland had good intentions about Turkey and France began to understand the importance of Turkey for the EU.
