WASHINGTON
President Barack Obama will host his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping at a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of a nuclear summit next week.
The leaders will discuss cooperation "on a range of issues of mutual interest," but also U.S.-China disagreements, according to a White House statement that did not provide additional details about the meeting.
Washington will host world leaders during the Nuclear Security Summit that will focus on how to prevent terrorist groups from obtaining nuclear weapons.
While the U.S. has sought to pressure China to take action against North Korea for Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program and climate change, Washington and Beijing disagree about cybersecurity and navigation and military buildup in the South China Sea.
