A statement by Ihsanoglu said that he hoped that the truce would lead to lifting the blockade on the Strip and enabling its inhabitants to rebuild what has been destroyed by Israeli aggressions in past years.
The statement said donor countries and institutions should fulfill their pledges made in Sharm Al-Sheikh Conference and engage in the immediate reconstruction of Gaza.
"The Secretary General also expressed gratitude to the Arab Republic of Egypt for its benevolent efforts to reach this agreement which put an end to the aggression. He commended the Palestinian factions for their positive spirit as regards national reconciliation and called for continued efforts to attain this objective so as to enable the Palestinian people to unite its rows and move towards the achievement of its national inalienable rights to freedom and independence," it said.
"The Secretary General gave his instructions for the coordination of a meeting of the OIC Ambassadorial Group in Geneva in order to request the convening of a special session of the UN Human Rights Council to form an independent international committee of inquiry to investigate the violations and crimes which accompanied the Israeli aggression, as the OIC did with the Israeli aggression on Gaza late 2008 and early 2009, which led to the constitution of the International Fact-Finding Mission chaired by Justice Goldstone," it said.
