According to Palestinian government sources, Fayyad submitted his resignation to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Palestinian government has not yet made any statement on Fayyad's resignation.
Fayyad has been serving as Palestinian prime minister since 2007.
Arab media argued that there were several disagreements between Mahmoud Abbas and Fayyad on the policies of the Palestinian government and Fayyad's resignation might have come due to those disagreements.
