CAIRO
Middle East Quartet Special Envoy Tony Blair arrived in Cairo on Wednesday for talks on the progress of the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, sources said.
Boarding a private jet, Blair arrived in Cairo International Airport on Wednesday morning, flying in from Paris.
The duration of the visit has not been disclosed. However, well-placed sources told Anadolu Agency that Blair is scheduled to meet with a number of Egyptian officials to discuss the latest developments on the Middle East peace process.
Washington-sponsored peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians were resumed last July after a three-year hiatus.
Results of the talks – which are focused on final settlement issues, borders, Israeli settlements, Jerusalem and the return of Palestinian refugees – have yet to be announced.
