PARIS
Religious hatred will not be tolerated by society, French President François Hollande said during a press conference at the Elysee Palace on Wednesday,
His comments came on the heels of a decision by France's Council of State to uphold a ban on contraversial comedian Dieudonné's performances. Dieudonné, who has several convictions stemming from antisemitic jokes, holocaust denial, and a gesture described as an inverted Nazi salute, recently filed an appeal to have the ban on his shows lifted.
Hollande urged state representatives to be vigiliant in their attempts to stamp out religious hatred by handing down similar verdicts.
