BRUSSELS
Turkey's Family and Social Policies Minister Fatma Sahin came together with EU commissioner for enlargement Stefan Fuele in Brussels on Thursday.
During their one-hour long meeting, Sahin and Fuele watched the dances of a group of Turkish women at the EU Commission central building under the "One Billion Rising" dance campaign.
Sahin and Fuele, both impressed with the dance performances, applauded attendees.
Fuele said, to censure violence against women was not enough, so in order to conclude all these struggle, they had to continue fighting against it.
Minister Sahin stressed, the remedy of violence was a love and added that to organize such an event on Valentine's Day was very meaningful.
Moreover, Sahin came together with Kristaine Georgieva, the UN commissioner in charge of humanitarian aid.
The V-Day, global activist movement organized "One Billion Rising", a Valentine Day's dance event aims to end and protest violence against women and girls.
According to the information received from the event's website, On February 14, women and men from 203 countries come together in the largest day of mass action ever to stop violence against women and girls, to express their outrage, and to strike, dance and RISE to support an end to violence against women once and for all.
There are high number of attendees from the Turkish community all over Turkey and the world to the event.
