Sirens were activated in northern Israel in response to rocket and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks launched from Lebanon, where the Israeli army continues to strike, according to a report by the Yedioth Ahronot newspaper early Saturday.
Sounds were repeatedly heard across a wide area, particularly in Kiryat Shmona, as well as in settlements in Nahariya and Acre, following Hezbollah attacks.
Earlier Friday, Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom, said in a statement that Hezbollah rockets struck certain areas in the city of Kiryat Shmona, but warning sirens were not activated.
The statement said a fire broke out after a rocket hit a building in Kiryat Shmona, and it was extinguished following intervention by firefighting and rescue teams. Another building was also damaged by a rocket strike.
Magen David Adom emphasized that there were no fatalities or injuries in the attack.
5 rockets fired at Karmiel in northern Israel
It was reported that five rockets launched by Hezbollah toward the northern Israeli settlement of Karmiel on Friday evening were intercepted by air defense systems.
Numerous rockets fired from Lebanon toward the cities of Nahariya and Acre were also intercepted by air defense systems, while the remained fell in open areas.
Sirens were frequently activated in settlements around Acre, and residents were instructed to remain in shelters.
It was also reported that four UAVs were launched from Lebanon toward the Upper Galilee region, some of which fell in open areas.
The Israeli administration, which has expressed support for the temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States, claims that the agreement does not include Lebanon and continues its attacks on the country.
