LONDON
Six people were arrested Tuesday morning in counter-terrorism raids across southern England in relation to the conflict in Syria.
Police said in a statement that the three men and three women were held on suspicion of terrorism offences, however the arrests were “not linked to any immediate threat to local communities or anywhere else in the UK.”
The statement added that the men were aged between 23 and 57 years old, the women between 23 and 48, and they were arrested across Hampshire - on the southern coast of England - and London.
According to police, the arrests were related to the conflict in Syria.
The statement added that the six were being held on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism, failing to disclose information about acts of terrorism, engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts, and arranging availability of money and property for use in terrorism.
The arrests come after three men were arrested by anti-terrorism police in central London on Monday on suspicion of being concerned with the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
The men were aged 21, 24 and 25 years old.
