ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stated Wednesday sorrows lived with Hungary in history turned into mutual friendship with Turkey today.
Having attended Hungary's National Day in JW Marriott Hotel in Turkish capital Ankara, Bagis thanked Hungary for its support to Turkey's membership to the European Union.
Deputy Under Secretary of Hungary's Foreign Ministry Szabolcs Takacs noted also people of Hungary presumed Turks as friends and brothers and said, "Turks are the people, who have the longest historical relation with Hungarians. Our first encounter dates back to 1,500 years ago."
Hungary's ambassador to Turkey, Janos Hovari stressed there was a strong relationship between Turkey and Hungary and underlined the patient will of Turkish and Hungarian governments to strengthen mutual relations.
Bagis, representatives of political parties, diplomatic envoys and other several guests attended the reception.
