MONTECRISTI, Ecuador
A 6.1-magnitude tremor shook Ecuador early Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, following an earthquake at the weekend that killed more than 500.
The 3.33 a.m. local time (0833GMT) tremor was centered 25 kilometers (15 miles) west of Muisne on the country’s northern coast at a depth of 16 km (10 miles).
Earlier, the National Prosecutors Office said the death toll from Saturday’s 7.8-magnitude earthquake has risen to 525, up from 507. The office said at least 11 foreigners were among the dead.
