MAZAR-I SHARIF, Afghanistan
16 people were killed and 36 others were wounded in a suicide attack on a private bank in northern Afghanistan's Faryab province, government sources reported on Tuesday.
The suicide bomber set off the bomb which was placed in a tricycle to target a private bank branch in Maimana, the capital of Faryab Province, states the Faryab police chief Toryalai Abdiani.
Dr. Qasim Parsa, Head of the Afghan-Turk Hospital in Maimana city told Anadolu Agency that the wounded 36 people have been taken into an Afghan-Turk Hospital.
No political groups have so far claimed responsibility.

Nine armed Taliban members were killed, five wounded and three others were arrested during the operations in the past 24 hours, stated Afghan National Security Forces on Tuesday.
The statment said the operations were conducted in Laghman, Baghlan, Paktiya, Farah and Helmand provinces.
Also, during these operations, the Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), according to the statement.
During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused two anti-vehicle mines placed for destructive activities in southern Zabul and eastern Kunar provinces.
In the meantime, the Taliban have not issued a statement on the operations.
