BEIRUT
A Syrian man was killed and another injured in northern Lebanon on Thursday by machine-gun fire emanating from the Syrian side of the border, a Lebanese security source said.
The two were initially injured and taken to a nearby hospital before one of them succumbed to his wounds, the source told Anadolu Agency.
Gunfire coming from the Syrian side of the border frequently claims victims on the Lebanese side.
The Syrian regime accuses residents of the border areas in predominantly-Sunni northern Lebanon of harboring opposition fighters.
Area residents have repeatedly denied the allegations, insisting they only offer refuge to Syrian civilians fleeing the fighting back home.
