SAMSUN
Heating supplies are the most urgent need for Syrian people amid the civil war and severe winter conditions as the public struggles to find shelter and aid for material with which to protect themselves from freezing.
Stressing that children freeze to death each day, a recent Syrian Revolution General Commission (SRGC) statement explained that one tin of diesel costs 25 thousand Syrian dollars (about $184) in some areas controlled by the opposition.
SIYAH (Samsun Humanitarian Aid Movement) and IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation aid teams who brought aid to Syria's Aleppo city returned to Turkey on Thursday.
Amid the lack of electricity, water and bread, aid teams distributed bread made in mobile ovens to the public, SIYAH volunteer Isa Arar told an AA correspondent.
"Food reaches [the people] in one way or other, but the greatest needs are heating supplies and shelter," he stressed.
"Children do not have dreams. The greatest blessing for children and families there is to be able to make it through the day,” said Turgay Kurtoglu, a volunteer in the team which brought scarves, hats, gloves, socks, flour and baby biscuits to needy Syrians.
