Pakistan army has given a 36-hour deadline to Taliban militants to surrender in the northwestern Khyber agency tribal region.
Army helicopters dropped pamphlets in different parts of the Khyber agency, one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal regions in Pakistan, warning militants to lay down their arms in the next 36 hours or face large-scale military action.
Army jets have already been pounding militant hideouts in the Khyber agency which lies near the Afghan border, killing 31 suspected militants in last four days, as part of a "Khyber One" operation against the Lashkar-e-Islam group, a Taliban affiliate.
