ANKARA
Turkey’s Foreign Ministry expressed its disapproval of recent attacks on tourists, workplaces and diplomatic mission buildings amid recent protests.
Spokesperson Tanju Bilgic told Anadolu Agency late Thursday that Turkey denounced vandalism and acts such as flag burning, stressing that “such impetuous acts do not benefit anyone.”
Bilgic said it was “saddened by the attack on 8 July against Thailand’s honorary consulate in Istanbul."
“We have responsibilities to provide security for diplomatic missions, emanating from international law,” the spokesperson said.
“In this respect, we have taken all necessary precautions,” he stressed.
“Tourists visiting our country are our guests and protecting their life and property is our common responsibility.”
