BALIKESIR
A Turkish NGO's and a high school's efforts resulted in opening of a water well in Burkina Faso, a western African country.
Located in Dursunbey township of Turkey's western province of Balikesir, the NGO opened up a well in a village of Burkina Faso.
Head of the NGO, Osman Bildir, told AA correspondent on Wednesday that they went to Burkina Faso two weeks ago for a visit and realized that a village 15 kilometers away from capital Ouagadougou was in need of water. Upon returning to Dursunbey, they collected money to initiate a well drilling at that village.
He said they attended the opening ceremony of the water well later and seeing the happiness of villagers made them so happy.
Bildir said they wish to open either a second well or a masjid in the country.
