WASHINGTON
U.S. fighter jets destroyed a stray resupply bundle from a U.S. airdrop for Kurdish militia forces in Kobani early Monday, to prevent it from falling into ISIL control, according to U.S. Central Command.
The bundles intended for the Democratic Union Party (PYD) included small arms, ammunition and medical supplies and was in an area of the northern Syrian town controlled by the terror group.
"In Syria, six airstrikes near Kobani destroyed ISIL fighting and mortar positions, an ISIL vehicle, and one stray resupply bundle from a U.S. airdrop of Kurdish supplies that occurred earlier today (local time), which prevented these supplies from falling into enemy hands," read a statement from CENTCOM.
All other resupply bundles, which were dispatched Sunday, were successfully delivered, the statement added.
The U.S-lead coalition airstrikes continued to pound ISIL positions in Iraq as two airstrikes southeast of Fallujah struck a large ISIL unit and destroyed three ISIL vehicles, Central Command said.
Three airstrikes south of the Bayji oil refinery, about 130 miles north of Baghdad, struck a small ISIL unit, destroyed an ISIL building and three ISIL vehicles, and damaged another ISIL building.
Another airstrike, also south of Bayji, destroyed four ISIL boats and damaged at least four more.
France and the U.K. participated in the strikes.
