WASHINGTON
US Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip H. Gordon said that the United States would continue consultations with Turkey, which had a great role in regard to securing stability in Syria.
Delivering a speech at the opening of the 31st Annual Conference of ATC began in Washington, Gordon said that they were glad with "leadership" by Turkey in international efforts for Syria. Gordon said that Turkey and the United States had a sound dialogue on the matter.
Turkey and the United States had perfect cooperation in several bilateral and regional matters, he said.
Regarding Cyprus issue, Gordon said that they hoped that the Greek Cypriot administration's EU term presidency would not make a negative impact on negotiation process and Turkish-EU relations. Gordon said they considered that energy resources on and around the island should be used for all communities there and should be improved within the scope of comprehensive solution.
There were important economic opportunities in Turkey, he added.
