CAIRO
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that they would submit a request on November 29 to have 'non-member observer' status at the United Nations (UN).
In a speech delivered at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Arab League in Cairo, Abbas stated that they chose November 29 for submitting their request to the UN as this day marked the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people.
"We have visited many corners of the world to receive the maximum number of votes possible. God willing, we will obtain the majority we need, although some countries want to remain neutral," Abbas also said.
On the other hand, the foreign ministers of the Arab League reiterated that they support the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) efforts to help Palestine receiving a 'non-member observer' status at the UN.
The PLO is led by Mahmoud Abbas.
