NEW DELHI
A young man was killed after being attacked by a white tiger in Delhi Zoo on Tuesday, a zoo official confirmed.
Zoo curator Riaz Ahmed Khan denied eyewitness claims, reported by local media, that the man had fallen into the tiger enclosure because the barrier was too low.
"There are two barriers. The person jumped into the enclosure," Khan told the Anadolu Agency.
"It attacked the person's neck. The tiger killed him in a few minutes," he said.
Several Indian television channels have broadcasted amateur video footage of the incident, which shows the tiger approach the man and drag him away.
Khan said the zoo cannot reveal the identity or further details of the incident until a post-mortem has been conducted.
