BEIJING
A magnitude 6.4 earthquake is reported to have struck southern Taiwan, toppling a 16-storey building in Tainan City.
The country's Central News Agency said there was no immediate report of casualties after the tremor struck early Saturday (late Friday GMT).
The United State Geological Survey reported that the quake's epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometres (6.2 miles), some 31 km (19 miles) east-southeast of Tainan.
Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau measured a second quake of 4.3 magnitude.
