ADDIS ABABA
Turkish ambassador to Ethiopia Osman Riza Yavuzalp visited Anadolu Agency's new regional bureau in Addis Ababa on Friday – his second visit within a month.
The diplomat was welcomed by bureau chief Mohammed Taha Tawakel and bureau staff.
During his visit, Yavuzalp lauded his country's relations with Ethiopia as "historic and deeply rooted," citing a recent visit to the Ethiopian capital by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
The two countries also see eye-to-eye on a host of political issues, the diplomat stressed.
Yavuzalp also commended a joint visit late last month by Davutoglu and Ethiopian counterpart Tedros Adhanom to the new AA bureau, which he said reflected the role of the media in boosting bilateral ties.
AA, the Turkish diplomat noted, could also serve as a conduit for Ethiopian and African news coverage to the international media.
Yavuzalp said that his embassy was looking forward to promoting greater cooperation with Ethiopia, especially in the tourism and education sectors.
