Social media is a powerful generator of new economic growth, Turkey's Ozleyis Pamir told Anadolu Agency employees on Tuesday.
According to a research by Deloitte, Facebook is worth €15 billion a year in Europe. It has helped provide thousands of jobs, created income opportunities online, and facilitated countless sales over the past few years.
Stating that Facebook itself earned $5 billion in 7 years, Pamir gave the Portugese football player Cristiano Ronaldo as an example.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is the first man who has created a social media strategy. Ronaldo has total of 85 million followers both in Facebook and Twitter. Today, he is worth of $1 billion,” Pamir said.
Pamir, pointing out that social media had a great influence, cited Banco Espirito Santo (BES), a Portuguese Bank, which captured five billion products with Ronaldo in Portugal.
“When choosing Ronaldo as advertising face of BES, the institution's profie was raised in Portugal, in three years,” said Pamir.
