NEW YORK
Turkish Minister of Economy Zafer Caglayan came together with representatives of Turkish foundations and US-based Turkish businessmen in New York City.
Caglayan informed US-based Turkish businessmen about Turkey's recent economic condition and the intended Free Trade Agreement between the USA and Turkey.
Caglayan said that Turkey's budget deficit ratio to GDP was 2%, less than that of 21 EU countries, and added, "Turkey has not had a deficit in its budget in the first eight months, but rather a budget surplus."
Caglayan indicated that the intended Free Trade Agreement between the US and Turkey was a long process.
Addressing the US-based Turkish businessmen, Caglayan said, "You are our permanent promotional representatives (in USA)."
Caglayan also met with US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, US Trade Representative Michael Froman and several American investors on Monday over the recent economical developments.
