Slow-moving convoys have caused delays on major roads across Ireland as part of protests against increasing fuel prices, media reports said Tuesday.
Convoys of tractors, trucks and cars approached major cities, including Cork, Dublin, Galway and Limerick, calling for reductions in fuel taxes, public broadcaster RTE reported.
Traffic delays were reported at key motorways, including the M1, M3, M4, M6 and M7. Another convoy was heading toward Dublin city center along the N11 motorway.
Dublin Airport urged passengers to allow extra travel time due to possible traffic disruption.
In January, Fuels for Ireland, an industry group representing fuel companies, called on the government to review fuel taxes, warning that petrol and diesel prices could rise further.
The group said recent tax and regulatory changes have pushed Ireland’s fuel prices among the highest in Europe, with new measures increasing prices by about 4% to 6% at the start of the year.
