Sixteen people were killed and a number of others injured on Friday when unidentified assailants attacked a hospice for the elderly in Yemen’s coastal city of Aden, according to eyewitnesses and local medical sources.
Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency by phone that the assailants had stormed the hospice -- located in Aden’s northern Al-Shahid Abdel Qawi district -- and opened fire, killing a total of 16 people.
According to a medical source at the nearby Al-Jumhuriah Hospital who spoke to Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity, the casualties included 11 elderly hospice residents, four Indian nurses and a worker.
